Jonathan Blow, Game Designer of Braid and the upcoming game The Witness, states that he is not very happy with the direction Microsoft is taking.
Microsoft announced in the Xbox Reveal that the Xbox One will have 300,000 servers to back it up. When the Xbox 360 was launched, it had 3,000 servers, which has now increased to 15,000 during its lifetime.
Microsoft has claimed that the Xbox One will become -even more powerful-, due to the use of the cloud network. Jonathan Blow criticizes Microsoft and it is his personal belief that they are lying, according to several tweets posted by him.
He says in one of his tweets:
More cloud processing BS: Microsoft: Xbox One cloud processing can enhance lighting, physics | Joystiq
Someone please call their bluff on this.
He also assumes that Microsoft is possibly using virtual servers, and he thinks that Microsoft is just making up a bunch of lies.
However, there is no actual proof of Microsoft doing this, so it’s a possibility that it isn’t even true.
What do you think about this? Do you believe Microsoft is lying? How do you feel about Jonathan’s opinion on this? What’s your overall opinion of the new Xbox?
I guess we will all find out at E3, where they will hopefully discuss more about this.
