Definitely, while checking about each device independently, they don't sound to be that exciting at all; yet, if we check carefully what each one is bringing to the scene, a whole platform is being built for the next-gen tech.
Currently, we can see what Apple and Nintendo have done, as they managed to carve out some new market niches with their innovations hardware-wise and software-wise, releasing them at lower prices, while Microsoft and Sony are fighting over the core gaming audience.
There is no surprise when we talk about mobile technology, as we now can find it everywhere, on our smartphones and tablets, making companies fight over the mobile system, trying to get some social content, games and so on for everyone, everywhere.
Sony is needing badly to gain some presence on every single area that has been covered so far by other companies, and the company is aware of this, therefore their upcoming releases.
New PS3 model "Super Slim"
PS3 has been around for a while now, but still the PS2 is being sold very well, this for plenty of different reasons, going from its library up to the initial price of PS3, which was pretty high.
This model of the PS3 is taking the place PS2 took when PS3 was released, as now Sony will be able to position it as the lower price, when the PS4 is released.
What does Sony gain from this? Well, they will be able to attract more users, as the low price console will be the PS3, as well, other users from Sony consoles will be -perhaps- attracted to purchase some of the portable devices such as a PS Vita.
PS Vita
A good number of game releases have been done recently by Sony for this console; as well, it is never bad to talk about the Cross Connect feature of it, which gives users the opportunity to use PS Vita's touchscreen and camera connected with the PS3, something really attractive for users of both consoles.
Mobile Strategy
With PlayStation Mobile, Sony is having a low-risk competition to the smartphone and tablet market, as this is cheaper than those other devices, and can compete when it comes to games which can be played on Android devices.
After the press conference most of the users were sort of disappointed, as there was no mention of the PS4, yet, if this is seen on a different perspective, it is quite noticeable that all the products that were mentioned have a synergy, which is creating a platform for the next-gen technology.
