The long-anticipated Skyrim expansion, "Dawnguard", finally has an official trailer!
Little is known to us so far about Bethesda's first proper expansion to the province of Skyrim, all we know is what we see in the trailer and that it will be released on the XBox 360 for 1600MS later in the summer. News of a PS3 or PC version is still uncertain.
So, what can we guess from the trailer? Well, there is clearly a new level of the game story added, featuring what would appear to be Daedric beings of sorts, though nothing is known for certain. I think we can expect some new lands to explore, some new NPCs to interact with, and two new new moral pathways to choose between. It's apparent in the trailer that there will be two new factions added to the game, the "Dawnguard" and what we can only assume are Daedra. The trailer introduces what we can only assume is a new affliction, similar to Beast Blood or Sanguinare Vampiris, which can turn the game's hero into a werewolf or vampire, respectively. This new affliction (or ability, depending on how you look at it) looks awfully Daedric to me, and the prospect of being able to turn into a soul-eating, flying Daedra is sure to appease many an Elder Scrolls enthusiast.
Word on the wire is that it's actually a new type of vampirism. Whether this is a sort of upgrade of Sanguinare Vampiris, or a whole new thing, we've yet to see. I'm honestly a little disappointed, but I think we can still expect a lot from this expansion!
