1 & 2. when you do the gate and you have lag you set distance to fight default 350, but you cant increase the distance to not receive dmg
3. Waltz, is for "special" wave with instant shield, and yes is circle the npc

tha antilag distance is the distance for shoot the npc´s, i dont recomend you 350 because aliens are very close to you and they can kill you easier.
my configurations that i use are this ones( i have done 1 alpha with it and it is secure and safe)
1º configuration
ship:
all lasers and 9 speed generators, rest shield generators. You need to have equiped the auto repair robot in extras.
drones
the half of drones shield and the other half lasers.
2º configuration
ship:
all lasers and all speed generators.(the auto repair robot too)
drones:
all shields
in boxybot GG´s options select antilag distance for fast aliens(protegits, sibelonits etc...) 410 and for slow aliens(devolarium, sibelons etc...) 470 and in Allowed damage i have setted upto 20%
sorry for my english
thanks if i helped

port Zeta and Epsilon - I put distance 490 and go to drink beer, being not afraid that will be put to death.
I apologize for the English...

i always use antilag distance 490 - it keeps me safe in gamma gate from big krystallions
only use waltz for the bigger things in higher waves like devourers

1) Anitlag-distance is the distance between your ship and the alliens you face, use the default one for most of the small alliens in alpha gate.
2) Yes, you must change it according to the alliens you face, for example (beta gate) I use:
380: for Streuners, Lordakias, Mordons, Saimons.
590: for Devolariums, Kristallins, Sibelons, Sibelonits.
620: for Kristallons, Protegits.
Anyway, you set up the suitable antilag distance till you can shoot the allien without being shooted by them.
3) Waltz mode for delta, zeta and lambda is for special waves of those gates, for example in the last wave of delta, you can't kill the big lordakium till you kill the little protegits and using thet mode will improve killing little protegits without getting your ship destroyed (I used this mode before and it passed the gate easily).
Hope I helped you, regards..
