Which client should be used for a new private server project?

Which client should be used for a new private server project?

I`m considering to start a new project, but I can`t decide which client to use. I really like 4351/5017 though, but many people seem to like 5100+ etc. So, you choose :P

Please vote!

Note : classic means that potency and talisman, steed won`t be included

I think you should do a patch that no one has done yet.
Like 5035.
I haven't seen any of that.
Or maybe a 5065 C# source.
Put all those binaries out.

I've removed Tallies from my 5165 server
Potency isn't all that bad as long as everyone can have the same max potency
Steeds are just a small bonus to HP and attack so that doesnt even make much of difference

Problem with this is that I didn`t really log packets, and I don`t know how to do that properly. If you guys would send me some starting point on that one I could try

Way I figure it is if you are gonna do a fully custom source you may as well do something that hasn't been done before.

If there are features in that patch that you personally don't want to enable... just don't code them. The added features can be used/changed around to be applicable to lots of things (eg: removing horses from the source but still having the ability to use them for mini games/racing events or w/e)

The proper arena system is something alot of people are interested in so I mean why not just do one of the new patches.

Hell doing the newest version would be interesting seeing as you can just log the packets off the currently running server. It would be a load of work but you could do alot of stuff with the latest features by tweaking them and making them more applicable to your particular server.

AcidCO Before shutdown was 5200+ and if im not mistaken Tanes new source is like 5200 +. I would have to say 5135 + is what people would decide.

An arena system could be done in any client, and even a little web app for it for ranking, redeeming points, etc.
