[PServ-Question]Anyone got threatened by TQ?

I personally have never heard a trust-worthy person post it, neither has a friend of mine told me he got threatened, but has any of you got threatened by TQ Digital to shut down the server or they'll take legal actions or something like that?

TQ would probably try to shut down Qonquer if they didnt turn into Conquer or pay them off lol.

Given the fact theyre making money off someone elses work, it is illegal to do that without giving the owners some sort of money.

If they didnt TQ can legally sue them for quite a bit of money for not offering them "royalties" to their stolen product which qonquer is using to make money

TQ has sent out about 20 or more 'threating letter', which have made the most server owners to shut it down (this is why the COEmu source got released btw).

Qonquer is not willing to shut down, as I have been speaking to the owner of the server and he _claims_ that they just refuse the warnings, and this has been going on for quite some time, so I doubt this warning won't go futher. Like they would spend all money needed to setup a trial, when a server can be created within 5 minutes again.

So I think what you're wondering is ; is it dangerous to have a Conquer p-server? Yes, in some ways, but you won't get hurt that much.

@Emme, So, if you close it when they sent you this threatening letter, there's no problem?
And whose getting threatened, the server hoster, the coder, the website host (if its using wamp e.g.) or somebody else? I would say the hoster.

edit: Will TQ personally send you to court? Highly unlikely, as already said, you can just make a server in 5 minutes. Unless, you're one of the bigger groups, as shown, Qonquer is still here (although they are in England :/)

I heard when Blizzard sent out threats they went after the hoster they didn't really care about anything else.

You guys don't know the facts!

TQ, won't waste money on a trial! They've sent multiple warning letters out, most servers closed down because they were scared, but if you don't its most likely that TQ would do nothing.

That's what I just said...

Anyhow, to be safe this is what you do:
Ask your players to download a client with patch x from official conquer website. Do never upload a client to the net and ask them to download from there.

Then, upload a "installer", or maybe just a .rar, which contains needed files, such as Server.dat.

Then you're good to go!
